I was a student at NYFA from March – October 2008. During that time, I was in Anthony’s Meisner class and quite honestly he’s the best professor there. While I was in school I noticed that the most believable scene work happened in that class and that’s also where I truly developed my acting ability. He really works well with the students making each one feel as if they are the most important student when they are working without taking away from the other classmates. He is respectful and his critiques are always delivered with kindness. His intuition I feel is spot on. He can listen to a student read a script and know where their difficulties lie. Whether it’s trouble with getting the script down, building up walls, or an inability to connect with the character they are portraying he has a vast array of techniques that help them overcome each obstacle until the words come off the page and sound real as if they were never written at all — as if that person is just speaking in the moment. Now working in the industry I have found the techniques I use the most that help me deliver an honest performance and land the part, I learned in Anthony’s class. The tools he has given me and the continued advice whenever I need it is always up to date, relevant, and useful.
